The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) key responsibilities include climate change, environment, land and water. DERM is responsible for meeting the challenge of climate change by encouraging householders and business to contribute to minimising the impacts of climate change by reducing their carbon emissions. They also deal with a wide range of environmental matters including air, water and soil quality, waste managment, vegetation management, promoting sustainable industry as well as managing sustainable use of land and water resources.
